Songbird I

 

He was her first word

His little songbird

Taught her how to sing

Helped her grow her wings

 

When they danced she flew

From his arms she grew

Darling don't forget

Don’t grow up just yet

 

And he led her to the water

Where she can’t go swimming in

And she flew across the water

Farther than she’d ever been

 

And from those drops of blue

She became brand new 

Rolling down her back

All the things she lacked

 

He watched his tide roll in

From everywhere it's been

He could see right through

Down to the drops of blue

 

And he led her to the water

Knowing well that she would see

When she flew across the water

That the air would feel so free

And she sang across the water

Cause she didn't think he’s hear

But he echoed across the water

And she knew that he was near
